white mat board
My genre of art is photorealism in pencil and I set out to recreate life, as we see it with the naked eye, on archival white mat board. Countless hours of experience and techniques, developed over 35 years, blend and layer the subject into life!! A commissioned art piece is a fantastic way to honor a loved one, past or present, and a unique way of immortalizing an image that means a lot to you or someone you know, as well as growing your fine art collection and enhancing the aesthetics of your space.
A Standard Commission
The amount of time dedicated to my style of work is directly affected by the complexity of the project. The pricing chart below will indicate the simplest form of creation. For a portrait example; one subject, no background and filling 75% of the image space. The portrait subject would display face, neck and top of shoulders. This standard format allows me to keep the cost of a commission lower if required. More than one portrait in a standard commission piece will be an additional cost reflected in the pricing chart below.
A Custom Commission
If the request requires more than just portraiture a custom commission will be detailed below in the Custom Commission Chart. Custom commissions involve a filled background ranging from one shade value to multiple shade values. The composition might have multiple subjects effecting size and complexity of the project. The possibilities are endless! The custom chart will be set up to accommodate most ideas. If your commission is very unique it may require a special quote.
Reference Picture
As a realist artist, my goal is to provide you with a true to life, photorealistic image. Achieving an accurate likeness and creating a drawing with detail and depth is the most important goal to a successful commission. However, I can only draw as well as the reference photo allows me to. The higher the quality of the photo, the better the drawing and a high resolution digital file is recommended. If you have multiple photo options, we can discuss to determine which one would be the best choice.
Pricing/Payment
The price chart below does not include shipping. An e-transfer payment method is preferable, if local you can use debit or credit but when using a credit card a nominal fee (2.65%) will apply. To reserve a spot on my waiting list, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance is due upon completion of your project and before collection or delivery. Shipping will be as required. A reasonable amount of time will be established to complete the commission and an understanding of potential unforeseen delays may occur. I’ll make every effort to stay within the timeline.
Contract Confirmation
Contract confirmation will be determined by the initial 50% deposit and the email transaction records.

Shipping
If artwork is to be shipped, please note that the Artist is not responsible for any possible damage or loss during shipment. The Artist will package the artwork carefully and suitably for fragile work and label the package “Fragile” but it does not guarantee damage free delivery. Shipping costs will be included in the final price of the drawing. Drawing will be shipped after final deposit is received and a tracking number will be provided to the client.
Sharing of Art
Social media sharing and other public sharing of artwork are vital for marketing purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, the commissioned artwork potentially being displayed on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and Youtube. I will always ask permission for such sharing and understand the potential privacy desired by the client. I will always make sure to place a hold on the sharing of artwork if that is necessary for the plans of the Client (e.g., a surprise present).
Copyright
Artist Doug Comeau retains the copyright to the artwork created from the Clients photo. Display of commission on Timberwolf Gallery website will be authorized from the above sharing of art agreement. If you wish to have Giclee prints made from the original the cost and details for doing so will be provided to you.
Termination Before Completion of Commission
If the client chooses to terminate the commission after agreeing to the commission arrangement before the commissioned project is complete, Artist Doug Comeau reserves the right to retain any non-refundable deposits paid.
I look forward to creating something
special for you or someone you love!
